Kungay Ala-Too From the north Issyk-Kul is framed by the range
Kungay Ala-Too. Its hillsides are covered with ancient spruces.
Dens bushes give refuge to numerous animals and birds, bright
flowers spread their fragrance in Alpine meadows the entire
summer, graceful mountain goats leap on steep hillsides, ice
rivers race downwards, eagles and griffons soar noiselessly
high and everything are surrounded by the wild landscape.
An hour journey from Cholpon-Ata there is
a canyon of the river Chon-Ak-Suu with a beautiful landscape
and a climate suitable for mountaineering and mountain skiing.
Above all this tower beautiful mountain tops
of Kumbel which separate the valley Chon-Ak-Suu from the Issyk-Kul.
Terskay Ala-Too No one can remain unmoved by the beauty of Terskay
Ala-Too. The humid breath of the Issyk-Kul relieves the hot
and dry climate of Central Asia.
During summer thunderstorms which are often,
it will hail, but bad weather never lasts more than 2-4 days
and gives way to long sunny days. The highest part of the mountain
range is at eastern end of the Issyk-Kul lake where some mountain
tops are higher than 5000m. There are many lakes in the ravines.
In alpine meadows you can see edelweiss's the symbol of mountaineers
and travelers. In Terskay there is no constant population.

Shepherds live here in Yurts (nomad dwelling)
only in summer when the mountain "juyloo" are used for grazing
cattle goats and sheep.
Here one can always taste the intoxicating
and refreshing drink kumis (fermented mare's milk.)
From the town of Karakol on the side of
the range Terskay Ala-Too, at the altitude of 1955m above
sea level, lies the famous health resort Ak-Suu (whit water).
The mountain side in the neighborhood of Ak-Suu are covered
by picturesque forests consisting of the Tien-Shan Spruces,
barberries and junipers (archa).
The main treasure of the health resort is
the mineral water of+57. Another famous health resort is Djety-Oguz
situated in the ravine on the northern mountainside of Terskay
Ala-Too.
