Ala-Archa Gorge
Trip for lessexperienced hikers
The is a short trip from Bishkek to Ala-Archa
gorge to an altitude of 2100 meters
above sea
level (distance - 40 km). The Ala-Archa National
park was established in the gorge to preserve the
biodiversity of flora and fauna in the North Tien-Shan.
The ascent to Ak-Sai waterfall is (altitude 2800 meters).
A nice path gradualy gaining height leads to the plateau
Tepshe (altitude 2400 meters). A gorgeous view to gorge-head
Ala-Archa opens from the plateau. From the upper boundary
of the plateau the path leads to the slope and, ascending
gradually, reaches rocks from where 40 meters waterfall Ak-Sai
rushes down. Under the waterfall
there are a lot of the nice places for picnics among
fir-trees and nice bushes. Approximately 4-5
hours will be required to get back to a bus.
Trip for professional tourists
Ala-Archa gorge is one of the best places for
gradual acclimatization before serious mountains trekking.
A path ascends abruptly behind Ak-Sai waterfall, so good physical
conditioning will be required. At the altitude of 3200 m there
is an alpinist's shack (hut). There is a comfortable place
for tents. Alpinists, usually, have ice training before climbing
to other Ala-Archa gorge peaks. The glacier is located right
at the level of the shack - it is sufficient only to climb
about 5 m up to slope of side moraine. Usually, trip to alpinist's
shack and back takes approximately 7-8 hours.
The Issyk-Ata gorge
The Kyrgyz know and have used hot mineral springs
for ages. There is a hot pool under the sky at the popular
health resort "Issik-Ata" located 60 km from Bishkek. The
history of the Great Silk Road mentions one of the famous
places in Issyk-Ata: Budda-heal portrayal which is sculptured
on the rock and dates back more than 3000 years. It is old
representation of the health natural resource, such as mineral
water for treatment stomach diseases, indigestion, crystal
fresh air for pulmonary problems. Visitors will enjoy to walk
the waterfall, which not far from health resort. Three-four
hours climb up to peak Botway is a great adventure for tourists.

The Kegety gorge
Kegety gorge is located
90 km from Bishkek. On the way to Kegety there is a great
opportunity to visit the Burana tower, minaret, stone garden
with petrogliphs which is natural archeological museum under
the sky. During the Karakhanid kaganate, there was a great
feudal state in Central Asia in the 10-12th. Kegety valley
is a way to Tuyuk pass 3700 m. Tourists have 3 hours to
enjoy and walk to the high-altitude lake Kel-Top (2725 m
above see level) located near a glacier.
The
Grigoryevka gorge
Tourists on the north beach of the Issy-Kul
lake like to visit picturesque places. Grigorevka gorge
is located 30 km from Cholpon-Ata. Strong stream river,
high cliffs, vertical slopes, specific fir-trees forest
near the clouds - it is not a complete list of the Grigoryevka
gorge sights. Riding on the horses, having lunch in the
yurt will create a wonderful impression.
The Arashan gorge
Kara-Kol is an historical, cultural and oblast
center of East Issyk-Kul. The Arashan gorge is located 30
km from Kara-Kol. At the altitude of 2500 m tourists will
find quiet and nice place called "Altyn Arashan" (Gold stream)
resort. There is Teplokluchenka village located 8 km from
Karakol, then the road sharply turns to the South. Narrow
gate to Arashan valley will go bridge-to-bridge above strong
stream river, than go up by serpentine between cliffs and
high fir-trees. Last turning brings exiting views. Wide
and quiet place with little houses, horses, sheep will bring
majestic feeling of peace and grandeur. Gorgeous rocks and
cliffs with darkness forests lines at the end white peak
Palatka. It looks like an eternity. Kindness and hospitality
of local people and natural hot baths will touch your soul
